Bio

Stephen Paar is a cinematographer based between Los Angeles and London. He’s a member of the International Cinematographers Guild and received his Master's in Cinematography from the American Film Institute in 2012.

Stephen’s latest narrative feature, Lorelei, won the Jury Prize at the Deauville American Film Festival and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film stars Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black, Den of Thieves) and Jena Malone (The Neon Demon, The Hunger Games), and was released theatrically and on Hulu.

Stephen has lensed over 200 shorts, music videos, commercials, dance videos and web series. He won Best Cinematography at the 2015 International Academy of Web Television Awards for his work on the Player Piano web series. As a commercial DP and camera op, he's worked for clients including Aldi, Dick's Sporting Goods, Gerber, JAFRA, Maxwell House, Plarium, Scion and more. He also shot the MSNBC series Fearless: How 10 LGBT Activists Made It Better. As a gaffer, he’s lit music videos for Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Maluma and Nicki Minaj.

Stephen originally hails from the Midwest and got his BFA in Film from Columbia College Chicago. In his spare time, he enjoys reading science fiction and fancies himself a futurist.
