About Stephen

Stephen is a Los Angeles-based DP. He received his Master's in Cinematography from the American Film Institute in 2012.

Stephen has lensed over 200 shorts, music videos, commercials, dance videos and web series. He's a regular cinematographer for the acclaimed Player Piano web series, for which he won Best Cinematography at the International Academy of Web Television Awards. Work he's shot has accumulated more than 11 million online views.

Stephen is currently in pre-production for his fifth narrative feature, Lorelai.

Stephen's last feature, the indie drama Mining for Ruby with Billy Zane and Mischa Barton, is available on Amazon.

One of his recent shorts, Porcupine, starring W. Earl Brown (Deadwood, Preacher, Wild) premiered at the 2016 Newport Beach Film Festival. His sci-fi thesis film, 113 Degrees, screened at over 25 festivals (winning prizes at Cine Gear, Dragon Con, and the Boston Science Fiction Film Festival) and is available to watch on Fandor. He also lensed Simple Math, winner in the 2014 PGA Make Your Mark short film competition.   

As a commercial DP and camera op, he's worked for clients including Dick's Sporting Goods, Gerber, JAFRA, and more.

Stephen hails from the Midwest, and got his BA from the world's largest film school, Columbia College Chicago, winning Best Cinematography for The Wardrobe at the school's Big Screen Film Festival. In his spare time, he enjoys reading science fiction, and fancies himself a futurist.
